I went out hunting the Aurora Australis tonight.
I ventured out, accompanied by some friends, our cameras, and torches. It was chaos out at Red Rocks, there was so many people! The car park was packed to the brim.
Tonight was the first time I’ve seen any aurora streaks with my own eyes, and not just on a camera screen. Aside from the intermittent light interruptions from walkers with head torches they forgot about, and bright headlights of the 4WD vehicles heading out past Devil’s Gate, it was a stunning evening. The sky was beautifully clear of clouds, and the Milky Way shone brightly above. Here are some of my snaps, in a bit of a timeline of the evening.
